The Mido Multifort TV’s history began in 1973, over 50 years ago with the introduction of the first TV-shaped watch, the Multi-Star, which was a version of the Multifort.
Mido revisited this distinctive television-shaped case in the 1980s and again in the year 2000.
After its original appearance, the TV-shaped case made a significant return to the brand’s catalogue in 2023 with the Multifort TV Big Date, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the original design by incorporating the retro design cues with a modern oversized date window at 12 o’clock.
Today, Mido proudly introduces the latest addition to the highly acclaimed Multifort TV lineup with the Chronograph. We flew to sunny Bangkok, Thailand to witness this momentous occasion for the Swiss brand, which is part of the Swatch Group.
Together with media, key opinion leaders and Mido Watches distributors in Asia, Mido Watches unveiled the Multifort TV Chronograph and allowed the guests to interact with the watches as well as Mido Watches top management who flew in to host the launch.
The Mido Multifort TV Chronograph uses the Mido Calibre 60, an automatic movement based on the ETA A052.231, which itself is an evolution of the Valjoux 7750. This movement provides a 60-hour power reserve and features a decorated rotor with perlage and brushed finishes, blued screws, and a Nivachron™ balance spring for enhanced shock and magnetic resistance.
The Nivachron alloy is a specially developed non-magnetic alloy that dramatically reduces the influence of pervasive magnetic fields from everyday electronics, which can otherwise impair watch accuracy or even stop the watch entirely. Mido’s parent company, the Swatch Group uses this material, as do other highly vaunted Swiss watchmakers.
The material is highly stable across a range of temperatures, ensuring the watch’s precision remains consistent, regardless of external temperature changes.
Three colorways are available for the new Multifort TV Chronograph: a classical blue, a grey-to-black gradient, and a bright blue or deep black variation, with some models also featuring a black PVD-coated steel case. These watches come with both a steel and a fabric or leather bracelet.
Mido Watches also announced a new steward for the brand in the Philippines under Watchworks. Retail sales begin in a few weeks, while the Multifort TV Chronograph arrives on local shores by October.
The perfect new watch for the upcoming Holiday Season!
