In 1892, Kintaro Hattori founded Seikosha, his own factory, and within three years produced the company’s first pocket watch, the Timekeeper. His visionary drive established the foundation of Japan’s watchmaking industry, fueling innovation for over 145 years.

Today, in celebration of Seiko’s 145th Anniversary, the brand unveils four new very limited edition models under the King Seiko, Prospex, Presage and Astron models featuring gold accents that reflect Seiko’s lasting dedication to enriching lives with elegance and delight, finished with peerless and exquisite attention to details, refined by Japan’s relentless takumi (craftsman) spirit.

Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph
Seiko’s trailblazing history in sports timing includes milestones like Japan’s first chronograph wristwatch in 1964 and the world’s inaugural automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch, the Speedtimer, in 1969. The new Speedtimer mechanical chronograph draws its dial pattern from the engravings on Kintaro’s early timepieces, blending vintage style with the clear readability hallmark of every Prospex watch. Gold accents on a white dial add a touch of sophisticated elegance. Rooted in tradition, the design echoes the flowing forms and elegantly curved bracelets of Speedtimer models from the 1960s and ’70s.

Driven by the Caliber 8R48, meticulously hand-assembled by Seiko’s finest watchmakers, the chronograph offers superior precision and dependability through its vertical clutch and column wheel. Its escapement, crafted using lightweight yet robust MEMS technology, further boosts the movement’s performance.
