You’re in your late 40’s, have a successful career in energy / finance / tech / real-estate, built up your nest’s egg, with passive income from long-term placements, UITF’s & other investments. Kids are all in college, the vacation / retirement home is done and you have a few properties you’ve invested in that will yield huge gains in ~10 years.

Now it’s time. You gave up that tuned 90’s deathtrap to pay for your post-grad, went abroad to find work, commuted or walked in all four seasons for the better part of two decades. Now it’s time to scratch that childhood motoring itch.

The thing is, you DON’T want something new. Modern sports cars are overhyped, over-played and not very enjoyable to drive. The classics call out to you. You crave the raw, unadulterated, unfiltered politically incorrect fire-breathing, smoke-spewing, oil-burning machines of your youth that’s as enjoyable as they are likely to kill you. Think air-cooled Porsche 911, a BMW E30 M3 or a Lancia Delta Integrale. Fancy something older? Maybe a Jaguar XKE otherwise known as the E-Type? Fancy American muscle? How does the iconic ’65 Mustang sound?

These are all iconic cars that made their mark in history.

But how do you get them? You don’t have the time to check every single lead. Well, you can call the guys over at Auto Icons in Singapore.

In a nutshell, Auto Icons can source you cars from anywhere in the world, ship, store repair or even restore them and keep them for you in any of their facilities worldwide. You can leave them in Europe, the US or wherever you fancy. Your car/s will always be prepped, cleaned, filled with fuel and ready to drive at a moment’s notice. Auto Icons particularly specialize on cars from the 70’s to the early 2000’s, arguably the golden age of proper performance cars and homologation specials that beg to be driven hard, by owners who aren’t afraid to pile on the mileage in pursuit of driving nirvana.

Starting out in 1997 under the company name Volkshaven, the initially catered to Volkswagens. It evolved to servicing modern VAG products under the renamed Eurohaus brand which progressed to performance tuning for European cars by 2006 and finally by 2008, they started importing cars.

During the lockdown, the team saw clarity in the midst of uncertainty, rebranding to Auto Icons which reflects the brand’s global reach. With 27 years experience in the automotive industry,  Auto Icons has the experience and the expertise to source and vet cars through their self-developed 230-point professional inspection system. Auto Icons even organizes driving events abroad for their clients to enjoy their cars with like-minded people in a safe but willing environment.

On the day we visited Auto Icons in August of last year, the shop, located in an industrial district around Bukit Batok serves primarily as a showroom / storage facility, with a small workshop in the frontage inside a massive industrial automotive complex. There were a variety of Porsches, an S30 Z, a BMW 2002, a Jaguar E-Type, an R34 Nissan GTR, a NA1 Honda NSX, a Lancia Delta Integrale, a few Mercedes-Benzes and so much more. And because they do a lot of repairs primarily to their customer cars, their stockroom is filled to the brim with spare parts for a variety of cars and consumables like oils and other fluids.

There’s a small reception area where customers can enjoy good coffee, talk shop and admire the cars with the team and of course other customers.

Check out their website (www.autoicons.com),  ring or email them to have a chat with a very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic team of gearheads and allow them to help you find your elusive childhood dream car. Their shop alone is a real treat for true driving enthusiasts!
