MINI has teamed up with lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina to create two exclusive John Cooper Works cars—each celebrating motorsport heritage, design, and individuality.
With a deep respect for craftsmanship and culture, the partnership blends MINI’s racing DNA with Deus’ creative spirit. The result: two customized cars that embody both performance and lifestyle, built for those who live and breathe speed and design.
“MINI has always balanced creative design with racing dynamics,” says Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI. “With Deus, we take this to a new level, setting trends for fans and motorsport enthusiasts alike.”
Both concepts are based on MINI John Cooper Works models:
The Skeg: an all-electric JCW with 190 kW/258 hp, inspired by surf culture—clean, minimal, and shaped by the coast.
The Machina: a combustion-powered JCW with 170 kW/231 hp—loud, raw, and forged on the track.
Each carries a bold white “X” on its roof, symbolizing the co-creation between MINI and Deus. Inside, raw craftsmanship shines through with visible seams, switches, and a “beauty of imperfection” design ethos. On the outside, striking graphics and bold colors pay tribute to MINI’s racing history.
“Every detail has been crafted with precision and authenticity,” says Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design. “The two cars are unique yet clearly connected through design and graphics.”
The collaboration was further shaped by BMW Group Designworks and Deus’ Creative Director, Carby Tuckwell, alongside designer Matt Willey—whose work draws on classic motorsport liveries and MINI’s Monte Carlo rally history.
Together, MINI and Deus created two cars that stand as rolling expressions of creativity, culture, and pure driving enthusiasm.
