New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) is set to initiate the gradual rollout of the latest Amadeus-powered biometric immigration eGates at Terminals 1 and 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) starting this December, aiming to enhance passenger processing efficiency.
Amadeus IT Group, S.A. is a major Spanish-based multinational technology company that provides software for the global travel and tourism industry. It is the world’s leading provider of travel technology that focus on developing software for airlines, hotels, airports, travel agencies, and other travel-related businesses.
These eGates, utilizing passport scanning and facial recognition technologies and operated by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), are integral to a new automated border-control system designed to minimize waiting times and streamline passenger throughput.

Positioned within NAIA’s international Terminals 1 and 3—where immigration inspections are mandatory—the initial phase of activation is slated for December 2025, with full implementation anticipated by early next year.
This initiative is funded through a partnership between NNIC and BI, combining financial backing and operational resources to introduce the eGates in harmony with ongoing NAIA infrastructure upgrades.

Once operational, this system will complement the biometric passenger checkpoints that NNIC has been deploying across various stages including check-in, security screening, and boarding.
“Our objective is to enhance comfort at every stage of the airport journey,” Ramon S. Ang, President and CEO of NNIC remarked. “These eGates will alleviate congestion at immigration and bolster the comprehensive enhancements we are instituting throughout NAIA.”

Having handled over 50 million passengers last year—exceeding its original capacity—NAIA’s adoption of automated technology represents a crucial advancement to accommodate the rising volume of travelers efficiently.
