Philippine Airlines (PAL), the nation’s flag carrier, has taken delivery of the first of five new Airbus A320s to expand its domestic network. Another A320 will arrive before 2025 ends, with three more slated for 2026. Each aircraft, seating 180 passengers, will boost flight frequency and enhance connections between major hubs and regional destinations, offering travelers greater flexibility and access across the Philippines.

“Expanding our A320 fleet allows us to offer more reliable, convenient, and comfortable travel options,” said Rabbi Vincent Ang, PAL Express President.
These A320s form part of PAL’s broader fleet upgrade, which includes modernizing long-haul aircraft with Airbus A350-1000s, updating narrow-body planes, and plans to acquire new A321neos. These moves aim to enhance reliability and elevate the passenger experience.
“Right-sizing our fleet helps us sustain and improve On-Time Performance (OTP), maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency,” Ang added. He noted PAL’s recent recognition by Cirium as the top On-Time Performance airline among Asia-Pacific carriers for three months straight, from August to October.

Ahead of peak season, PAL has also increased flight frequencies on key routes like Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Legazpi, Dumaguete, and Tacloban to strengthen domestic connectivity.
