Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has proudly introduced a new four-times-weekly service between Cebu and Calbayog, as part of its ongoing plan to grow its domestic network, improve travel connections, and enhance passenger convenience.
The inaugural flight, PR 2668, was celebrated with a water cannon salute and cake-cutting ceremony before departing from Mactan-Cebu International Airport on October 26. The event was attended by PAL officials, representatives from Aboitiz InfraCapital GMCAC, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), the Department of Tourism (DOT), and other travel industry partners.

Upon landing at Calbayog Airport, Flight PR 2669 was greeted with another water cannon salute, a ceremonial lei presentation, a cultural dance, and a welcoming group led by PAL, DOT Region 8, and the local government of Calbayog.
“This new Cebu-Calbayog route supports both leisure and business travel, encourages economic growth, and strengthens Cebu’s status as a key gateway to various parts of the Philippines and beyond,” said Rabbi Vincent Ang, President of PAL Express.

The Calbayog-Cebu route provides travelers with easy access to Manila and smooth connections through Cebu to other domestic destinations within PAL’s network, including Bacolod, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Siargao, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro. International links are also available through PAL’s hubs in Cebu and Manila.

Known as the “City of Waterfalls,” Calbayog is a notable educational and religious center and a port for interisland shipping. It is celebrated for its numerous waterfalls, lively festival traditions, and local industries such as mat-making and fishing.
The partnership and dedication of aviation industry stakeholders—especially the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority, Aboitiz Infra Capital, and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines—have been crucial to PAL’s expansion, ongoing growth, and success in Cebu.
PAL operates its 86-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 Next Generation aircraft on the Cebu-Calbayog route, providing a comfortable travel experience alongside the airline’s signature warm Filipino hospitality.
