Whenever I travel, I always make it a point to find something automotive. Whether it’s a hidden tuning shop, a local cars-and-coffee gathering, or a showroom filled with dream machines, it’s become part of every trip I take.

So during my recent visit to Shenzhen, China, I knew I had to carve out time to search for something worthwhile to check out. And that turned out to be AKD Luxury Car Mall.

The moment I arrived, I realized this wasn’t your typical dealership. AKD holds the Guinness World Records title for the Largest Used Car Dealership Building (showroom area), and after spending several hours wandering through its five massive floors, it’s easy to understand why.

The place feels less like a dealership and more like an automotive wonderland, where every level reveals another collection of machines that most enthusiasts only get to admire through a screen.

Five Floors of Automotive Excellence
Each floor presents a different mix of luxury, performance, and prestige.

Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, Land Rover, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley, and McLaren all share the spotlight, creating an overwhelming display of automotive excellence.

The beauty of AKD isn’t just the number of cars on display, it’s the diversity. One moment you’re admiring a stately Mercedes sedan, and the next you’re standing inches away from a six-figure supercar.

It’s the kind of place where you constantly tell yourself, “Just one more row,” only to realize you’ve been walking for hours.

An Orange McLaren That Refused to Be Ignored
Out of all the luxury machinery, one car immediately caught my eye. A lone McLaren Artura in orange!

Its vibrant paintwork practically glowed under the showroom lights, demanding attention even among some of the world’s most desirable cars. Beneath its sculpted bodywork is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 671 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque.

It launches from 0 to 100 km/h in around three seconds and reaches a top speed of 330 km/h, proving that hybrid technology can still deliver the excitement expected from a McLaren.

Parked right beside it was an Abarth 595, a complete contrast in every way imaginable. Small, feisty, and unmistakably Italian, it served as a reminder that driving fun doesn’t always come with outrageous horsepower figures. Sometimes, personality is just as important as performance.

Luxury Comes in Many Forms
Not every standout car wore an exotic badge.

Two Toyota Century sedans quietly occupied one section of the showroom, showcasing Japan’s interpretation of ultra-luxury.

Often described as Japan’s Rolls-Royce rival, the Century is all about craftsmanship, comfort, and understated elegance. They didn’t need flashy styling to command attention.

Nearby were several Toyota HiAce vans in immaculate condition. Seeing these beautifully preserved examples was surprisingly refreshing, proving that even practical vehicles deserve appreciation when they’re cared for to such a high standard.

More Than a Showroom
AKD isn’t solely focused on selling cars. It also features an impressive Lifestyle Boutique that’s worth exploring in its own right.

The boutique is packed with premium wheels, automotive accessories, detailing products, Formula One merchandise, apparel, scale models, and even automotive-themed items for kids.

Whether you’re hunting for a collectible or simply looking for a souvenir to remember your visit, there’s something for every enthusiast.

My Personal Favorite
As incredible as the Lamborghinis, Bentleys, and Rolls-Royces were, one car kept drawing me back. It’s the Porsche 911T.

There’s something special about a sports car that still puts the driver first. The 911T stays true to Porsche’s purist philosophy with its seven-speed manual transmission, offering the kind of driver involvement that’s becoming increasingly rare.

Power comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six producing approximately 379 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, delivering performance that’s both exhilarating and wonderfully usable.

For me, the manual gearbox is what makes the 911T so desirable. Every shift is a reminder that some of the greatest driving experiences still come from doing things the old-fashioned way.

Expensive Window Shopping at Its Finest
Looking back, AKD Luxury Car Mall was easily one of the highlights of my Shenzhen trip.

It wasn’t just about seeing expensive cars, it was about experiencing automotive culture on a scale I’d never seen before.

Every floor offered something worth discovering.

Even if driving one of these dream machines isn’t in the cards just yet, spending a few hours walking among them is an experience every car enthusiast should have.

Sometimes the best memories come from simply admiring what’s possible. AKD is the the ultimate destination for expensive window shopping.
