LE CASTELLET, France, Nov. 20, 2025 — Hyundai’s upscale Genesis brand has introduced the Magma GT Concept, a landmark model that sets the tone for the brand’s performance aspirations for the future. Debuting at the Genesis Magma World Premiere, this concept is much more than a design exercise — it is the clearest demonstration yet of the brand’s dedication to its future high-performance potential. Magma is to Genesis what M is to BMW, AMG is to Mercedes and NISMO is to Nissan, just to illustrate the point.
The Magma GT Concept closely follows the performance strategy revealed during Hyundai Motor Company’s CEO Investor Day in New York last September, where Genesis confirmed its intention to develop this model into a performance icon, or halo vehicle, and indicated its long-term goal of competing in the GT racing class.

Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, stated, “The Magma GT Concept represents the peak of our performance vision and symbolizes our commitment to genuine motorsport capability. It isn’t about raw power or relentless speed — it’s about balance. This is a car that connects instinctively with its driver, remains composed under pressure, and is finely tuned so every element serves one goal: making performance effortless.”
He added, “The Magma GT doesn’t challenge the driver to prove their skill; it elevates it. This is not just a faster Genesis. It is the fullest expression of Genesis performance to date.”
If his name sounds familiar, it is because Luc Donckerwolke, the Peruvian-Belgian design maven has penned some truly unforgettable cars under his tenure. In his previous stint with the Volkswagen Group, Luc led the design of the Lamborghini Murcielago and the first junior Lamborghini, the Gallardo, both highly succesful models. Moving to Bentley, Luc designed the 2014 Bentley Flying Spur limousine and the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept. He also led the design for the 2008 SEAT Ibiza. Moving to Hyundai, Luc designed the Ioniq 5, the KIA EV6, and the Genesis GV60.

A New Genesis Icon
As the brand’s first pure sports car type, the Magma GT Concept marks a vital milestone in Genesis’ shift toward Luxury High Performance. The model captures the spirit of “Effortless Performance,” emphasizing balance and confidence rather than flashiness or aggression.
Instead of focusing purely on speed, the Magma GT Concept combines refined luxury with authentic motorsport character, demonstrating what Genesis views as the most complete representation of its future performance.
Featuring a mid-rear engine layout, the Magma GT Concept points to the brand’s aspiration to explore GT-category racing.
Motorsport-Inspired Proportions and Aerodynamics
Honoring its place as the second racing car in Genesis history, the Magma GT Concept’s design immediately communicates its purpose — every curve and proportion is crafted to enhance aerodynamics and driving efficiency.
Key highlights include:
– A low front bonnet and long, sloping roofline, creating a sleek, race-ready outline.
– Broad, muscular rear fenders that reinterpret traditional GT race-car proportions through the lens of Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance” philosophy.
– A boat-tail cabin that tapers toward the rear to enhance stance and emphasize a “low and wide” look.
– Front canards seamlessly integrated with the headlamps, a distinctive feature that boosts both downforce and brand identity.
– G-Matrix aerodynamic patterns radiating from the front splitter outward in wing-like shapes — serving both as a signature visual element and functional airflow optimizers.
– A mechanical rear two-line lamp graphic and fully refined rear aerodynamic structure, forming a wide, grounded, and unmistakably Magma GT presence.

A Symbol of Genesis’ Long-Term Performance Vision
Ultimately, the Magma GT Concept acts as both a design manifesto and a strategic guidepost for the brand. It visually and conceptually embodies what Genesis aims to accomplish as it enters competitive motorsport and expands its high-performance lineup.
As the cornerstone model shaping Genesis’ performance identity for the coming decade, the Magma GT Concept lays the groundwork for a future performance range led by a true halo car.
