TAIPEI, Taiwan — Automobili Lamborghini has officially unveiled the new Urus SE Performante in Taipei, Taiwan, introducing the high-performance iteration of its plug-in hybrid Super SUV to excited Taiwanese customers, media, and enthusiasts.

In the region, Taiwan is only the second market to launch the latest Urus SE Performante, after South Korea. We were fortunate to be invited to witness this important event for the brand. The Urus is the brand’s single biggest volume seller, having produced and sold more than 35,000 units since its introduction in the spring of 2018. Today, it accounts for roughly 60% of Lamborghini’s total production output and sales.

Building upon the foundation of the electrified Urus SE, the Performante variant introduces a lighter, sharper configuration engineered for elevated track precision and dynamic response—all while preserving the daily usability and versatile character that define the Urus line. The exclusive launch event highlighted Lamborghini’s bespoke customization program through an interactive Ad Personam experience, where guests tailored their ideal specifications and received personalized collectible cards showcasing their builds.

At the core of the Urus SE Performante is a high-output powertrain uniting a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a permanent-magnet electric motor. Together, this hybrid architecture generates a staggering combined output of 812 CV (597 kW or 801 hp) and 1,000 Nm of torque. The performance metrics are formidable: the Super SUV launches from rest to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds, and tops out at a maximum speed of 312 km/h. Being a plug-in hybrid, it also has a 60 kilometer electric-only range thanks to its 25.9 kwh lithium-ion battery.

Compared with the standard Urus SE, the Performante is 32 kilograms lighter, achieving an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 3.0 kg/CV. Extensive application of carbon fiber across the bodywork contributes to this strict diet, while a lightweight titanium Akrapovič sports exhaust system further sheds weight while amplifying the distinctive, visceral acoustic signature of the twin-turbo V8.

To manage its elevated output, the Performante introduces the new AURA dual-chamber air suspension system, designed to deliver a vastly wider operating range between compliant touring comfort and aggressive track dynamics. Vehicle chassis behavior is precisely managed by a six-degrees-of-freedom (6D) sensor operating alongside an Integrated Power Brake system. Behind the wheel, drivers can select between established Strada, Sport, and Corsa settings, while a dedicated Rally mode extends driver engagement across loose or low-friction surfaces.

This sharper character is overtly communicated through functional aerodynamic design. Up front, a new carbon-fiber bonnet featuring integrated S-Duct air intakes optimizes cooling and increases front-axle downforce.

At the rear, redesigned aerodynamic elements—including a functional rear spoiler and enlarged carbon diffuser—work in tandem to boost high-speed stability. Inside, the driver-centric cabin reinforces Lamborghini’s signature “Feel like a Pilot” philosophy, pairing exposed carbon fiber details with specialized materials tailored for high-performance driving.

The Taiwan premiere underscores the strategic significance of the market within the broader Asia-Pacific region. As Francesco Scardaoni, Region Director of Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific, noted during the reveal, 75 percent of Lamborghini owners in Taiwan currently possess at least one Urus model.

Scardaoni highlighted that many clients who begin their brand journey with the Super SUV frequently expand their collections to include the marque’s mid-engine super sports cars. With the arrival of the Urus SE Performante, Lamborghini builds upon this regional momentum by offering heightened driving precision without sacrificing everyday usability.

We also had the opportunity to pick Signor Scardaoni’s mind and try to delve deeper into Lamborghini’s near future.

Firstly, there will always be a screaming internal combustion engine for all Lamborghini models despite receiving electrification to aid performance and do its part in reducing emissions.

Secondly, Lamborghini will always feature the extreme: performance, engineering, design and features / options. A Lamborghini is never going to be something for everyone. Rather, it is for a very specific clientele that values uniqueness, rarity and confidence.

Third, Lamborghini remains committed to its Direzione Cor Tauri electrification strategy without abandoning its core clientele that want emotion, passion and excitement in their products. Its an almost sensual experience seeing, hearing, feeling and even smelling the overall aura and presence of a Lamborghini. Signor Scardaoni proudly pointed out that Lamborghini is the only brand in its rarefied segment to feature electrification across all its models.

And with sales continually going up every year, Lamborghini is definitely on the right track to a bright, exciting and sustainable future.
